Moong dal halwa recipe (मूंग दाल हलवा रेसिपी) is one of the very popular and rich halwa recipes from Indian cuisine. It is often prepared on celebratory or festive occasions like holi, diwali, marriages and many parties etc.
A perfect, mouth-watering, aromatic shiny and pretty Moong Dal Halwa loaded with lots of protein and calcium, made with yellow split moong dal, ghee, sugar, milk, nuts and flavoured with cardamom powder.
Genrally, people have the perception that making Moong dal Halwa at home is a tedious job. But, when you will watch our recipe video, you will find that it is pretty easy to make this yummy recipe.
- 250 gm Yellow Moong Lentils
- 200 ml Ghee or Clarified Butter
- 250 ml Milk
- 250 ml Water
- 250 gm Sugar
- 1 tsp Cardamom Powder
- 2 tbsp Almond (Chips, to garnish halwa)
- Soak yellow moong lentils overnight.
- Drain in morning and grind to make coarse paste.
- Heat ghee in a non-stick kadahi.
- You can also add few threads of saffron in milk for additional flavor.
- Nice golden brown colored moong dal halwa is ready which is very appealing to the eyes and is very tasty to eat.
- Serve this delicious moong dal halwa hot and garnish it with almond chips.
- This moong dal halwa can last upto a week if refrigerated.
