Lord Rama is King of Ayodhya and avatar of Lord Vishnu. Lord Rama took incarnation on Ram Navami. Therefore, his puja is done on this day. I describe here a very simple Lord Rama puja vidhi with mantra. You can easily do it at your home on Ram Navami and other occasions

Things Required for Rama Puja Vidhi

1. Chowki – 1 nos.
2. Red Cloth – 1 nos.
3. Idol or Photo of Lord Ganesha – 1 nos.
4. Photo of Lord Ram Darbar or Lord Sita Ram ji – 1 nos.
5. Akshat (raw unbroken rice) – 1 cup.
6. Tulsi (basil leaves) – few
7. Dhoop stick – 1 nos.
8. Deepak (earthen lamp filled with Ghee) – 1 nos.
9. Flowers – few
10. Chandan (or Ashtgandh/Roli)
11. Sacred Thread (Moli)
12. Holy Water
13. Sweets

Step-by-step Lord Rama Puja Vidhi

1. Collect all the above things at the place of Puja
2. Spread red cloth on Chowki nicely.
3. Place photo of Lord Ram Darbar or Lord Sita Ram ji on Chowki.
4. Now make 8 petals lotus with the Akshat in front of the above said photo.

5. Put the idol of Lord Ganesha on it.
6. Now do Ganesha Puja first :

• Light the earthen lamp (deepak) and dhoop stick first.
• Pray Lord Ganesha, “O Lord Ganesha! Please come and remove all obstacles in Lord Rama puja!”
• Now, sprinkle some holy water on Lord Ganesha for bathing.
• Offer sacred thread as clothes.
• Show him earthen lamp, dhoop stick.
• Offer flowers, sweets and water. Also put chandan tilak on his forehead.

7. Now do Lord Ram Puja :

• Pray to Lord Rama, Sita, Lakshman, Bharat, Shatrughna and Hanuman ji to come and receive offerings.
• Show them earthen lamp and dhoop stick.
• Then offer sweets, flowers and water. Apply chandan tilak on their forehead.
• Offer Tulsi especially to Lord Rama.
• Do namaskar to all of them by saying, “Shri Sita Lakshman Bharat Shatrughna Hanumat Sametaya Shri Ramaya Namah”.
• Now recite the matra of Lord Rama “ॐ रामाय नमः” OR “रां रामाय नमः” at least 108 times with meditating on Lord Rama.
• When you complete recitation, offer this recitation in lotus feet of Lord Rama. Say, “O Lord Rama! I offer this recitation and puja in your lotus feet. Please receive this.”

8. Now do Visarjan of Lord Ram Puja :

Take flowers and akshat in your right hand. Say, “I am very thankful that you came to our place of puja. Please receive these offerings and reside again in your divine places.”

This way Easy Lord Rama Puja Vidhi completes and gives you devotion and love in lotus feet of Lord Rama.

This year Rama Navami is on 8th April 2014.
