I get emails to share some Indian recipes for fasting because people generally don’t have much varieties to eat during fasts.
I am therefore sharing green raw banana pakora recipe (कच्चे केले के पकौड़े) in today’s episode. It is made by dipping raw banana in the thick batter of singhara flour (water chestnut flour) flavored with rock salt and black pepper powder. Then the pakoras are deep-fried in Ghee.

Though this pakora recipe is mostly eaten during fasts in North India, but you can eat it any time as a snack food.

- 150 gm Singhara Flour (water chestnut flour)
- 2 Green Raw Banana
- As per taste Rock Salt
- 1 tsp Black Pepper Powder
- 2 Green Chili (chopped)
- 200 ml Ghee to fry pakora
- It is difficult to peel raw banana. So, boil the bananas for 5 minutes.
- Bananas must remain hard after boiling. So, don't boil bananas too much. We are not boiling bananas to cook, but we are boiling the bananas so that we can easily peel them.
- Let bananas boil. Meanwhile, prepare batter to make pakora.
- Add rock salt, black pepper powder and chopped green chili in singhara flour and mix it well.
- Make thick batter of this singhara flour by adding water in it. Also add 1 tbsp ghee in this batter to make pakora crispy.
- Take out the boiled banans from boiling water and peel them.
- Cut bananas in thick slices.
- Heat ghee in a karahi.
- Fold banana slices in the batter and deep fry pakoras on medium flame.
- Your delicious and nutritious banana pakoras are ready to serve hot.
