Paneer Butter Masala (पनीर बटर मसाला) is a very famous Punjabi recipe. As the name says, paneer or cottage cheese is cooked in lot of butter in this recipe.
Paneer butter masala recipe mainly has two variations. One is hot, more spicy and less sweet. Another one is rich in flavors, less hot, less spicy and creamy. I’m sharing here the second variation of Paneer butter masala recipe to add a delicate taste in your meals.
Ingredients
- 250 gm Cheese (Paneer)
- 100 gm Butter
- 100 gm Cream
- 2 tsp Ginger Garlic paste
- 1 tsp Garam Masala
- 1 tsp Red chili powder
- As per taste Salt
- 100 ml Milk
- 2 medium size Onion (Make Paste)
- 100 gm Tomato Puree
- 4 Bay leaves
- 100 gm Cashew nuts paste

Paneer Butter Masala Recipe : Step by Step Instructions
- Heat butter in a karahi on medium flame. It turns brown on overheating. So, don't overheat butter.
- Add bay leaves and ginger garlic paste in hot butter.
- Let it cook on low flame for 2 minutes and then add onion paste and tomato puree in it.
- Cover the lid and let it cook on medium flame for 5 minutes.
- After 5 minutes, add cashew nuts paste. Stir it continuously for 10 minutes at the bottom of the karahi.
- Now add red chili powder, garam masala powder and salt in it.
- If your gravy is too thick, you can add some water or milk in it.
- Cover the lid and let it cook for another 5 minutes on low flame.
- Finally add paneer or cottage cheese in it and mix properly.
- Delicious Paneer Butter Masala is ready to serve hot with any Indian bread like roti, paratha, naan, laccha paratha, tandoori roti or with rice.
Recipe Notes
- Soak cashew nuts for 1 hour in plain water or milk and then grind to make smooth paste.
