Kheer recipe (खीर रेसिपी) is a rice pudding recipe made by boiling rice in milk with sugar.
Some nuts and dry fruits, i.e. cashew nuts, raisins, almonds and pistachio are added to make it rich in nutrition and to make it more delicious. Cardamom and saffron are also added in kheer recipe for extra flavor and wonderful aroma.
Kheer is one of the most popular and most eaten dessert across India. It is served on various temperatures, i.e. hot, cold and chilled. It is eaten during main course, as a dessert and as a snack food in India.
Kheer is also served as prasad in temples in India. You can also find this rice kheer in wedding menus and in the banquet of special events.
- 1 liter Milk
- 50 gm Rice
- 100 gm Sugar
- 20 gm Almond (roughly chopped)
- 20 gm Raisins
- 20 gm Pistachio Chips
- 20 gm Coconut chips
- 1/2 tsp Cardamom Powder
- 10 threads Saffron (Optional)
- Soak rice in water for 10 minutes and simultaneously put milk on flame to heat.
- When milk starts boiling, reduce the flame, add rice and mix it properly.
- Let it cook on low flame for 25 minutes and stir it occasionally so that milk or rice will not stick to the bottom of the vessel.
- Now add all the ingredients in it and let it cook for another 5 minutes on low flame.
- Delicious kheer is ready.
- You can serve it hot or chilled.
- You can also add a pinch of saffron in it for wonderful color and extra flavor.
