Sabudana khichdi (साबूदाना खिचड़ी रेसिपी) is one of the most popular fasting recipes in India. It is made by Sabudana or Sago, potato, peanuts, green chili pepper, black pepper powder and rock salt.
Sabudana soaked overnight and drained in morning to make sabudana khichdi. Potatoes are boiled and cut in cubes or chopped roughly. Cumin seeds, peanuts and finely chopped green chili pepper are stir fried in a small amount of Ghee. Then after, all the ingredients mixed well and saute for few minutes.
Sabudana khichdi recipe is also popular as a snacks recipe in India. It is an easy vegetarian healthy recipe because of which it is eaten in fast and religious occasions in India.

- 50 gm Sabudana or Sago (soked overnight in water)
- 20 gm Peanuts
- 20 gm Raisins
- 1 Potato (boiled and roughly chopped)
- 1 Green chili pepper (finely chopped)
- 20 gm Coconut chips
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
- To taste Rock Salt
- To taste Black Pepper Powder
- 3 tsp Ghee or Clarified Butter
- Heat Ghee in a karahi and stir fry cumin seeds, green chili pepper and peanuts in it for 5 minutes at medium flame.
- Add boiled potato in it and stir fry for 2 minutes.
- Add all the remaining ingredients in it and mix it well.
- Delicious sabudana khichdi is ready for your fasts and other religious occasions.
- Serve it hot. You can garnish it with fresh pomegranate seeds for extra flavor and elegant look.
