Stuffed capsicum (भरवाँ शिमला मिर्च) with gram flour and Indian cottage cheese (paneer) is an Indian vegetable recipe. It is generally served with whole wheat flour Roti.
Chopped onion, gram flour and grated paneer (Indian cottage cheese) are cooked in a pan with some spices to prepare the stuffing mixture. This mixture is filled in the de-seeded capsicums. The stuffed capsicums are then baked in oven.
Stuffed capsicum is often served with the garnishing of grated paneer.
There are two variations of stuffed pepper which are also popular in India. One in which the peppers (capsicum) are stuffed with khoa (mawa) mixture. The other one is stuffed capsicum with boiled potato. Both the stuffed vegetables are delicious.
Today, I’m sharing the most popular version of stuffed capsicum recipe with video from Indian cuisine in which capsicums are stuffed with gram flour and paneer.
- 4 Capsicum (Green)
- 125 gm Gram Flour
- 100 gm Paneer (Indian Cottage Cheese)
- 2 Onion (finely chopped)
- 1 Green Chili (finely chopped)
- As per taste Salt
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1/4 tsp Asafoetida
- 1 tsp Fennel Seeds
- 1 tsp Red chili powder
- 1 tsp Garam Masala
- Heat oil in a karahi and crackle asafoetida and cumin seeds in it.
- Add onion in it and cook till translucent.
- Then add gram flour in it and let it cook on low flame. Stir it occasionally.
- When color of the gram flour starts to change, then add green chili and all the spices in it and cook on low flame for 5 minutes. Stir it occasionally.
- Stuffing mixture is now ready. Switch off the flame and add grated paneer in it.
- Slice off capsicums thinly from the top and remove the seeds.
- Set the oven to preheat to 200 degree Celsius and meanwhile stuff the capsicums.
- Grease capsicums from inside with butter. It will intact the moisture of the capsicum during baking.
- Now, stuff all the capsicums with the stuffing mixture and put the sliced tops over the capsicums.
- Grease a baking tray slightly with oil or butter. Place capsicums on the tray and bake at 200 degree Celsius for 20 minutes.
- Mouth watering stuffed capsicums are ready. Serve it hot with hot roti, paratha or naan.
