Tamarind chutney recipe (इमली चटनी की रेसिपी) is a sweet and sour tamarind sauce recipe from Indian cuisine, popularly known as Imli Ki Chutney in India, served with many Indian snacks, i.e. chaat, samosa, pakora, kofta etc.
It is made of ripe tamarind pulp, sugar, salt, garam masala and red chili powder. It is consumed both as sauce and dip.
Tamarind chutney recipe is one of the easiest chutney recipes which you can make at home without any experience. Here, I’m telling you the entire procedure in detail that how to make tamarind chutney at home, so that you can enjoy your snacks and savories with this delicious chutney.
- 100 gm Tamarind (Ripe)
- 200 gm Sugar
- As per Taste Salt
- 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
- 1/2 tsp Red chili powder
- Watch following video to learn delicious, sweet and sour tamarind chutney.
- Soak tamarind in 1 cup water for 5 to 6 hours at room temperature.
- When tamarind become soft, mash it to separate its pulp from the seeds and sieve it.
- Put this pulp in a pan.
- Add 1 cup water in it and let it boil on medium flame.
- Now, add all the spices and sugar in it and let it boil for 10 to 15 minutes on low flame.
- Meanwhile stir it.
- When it starts to become thick and get the consistency of tomato ketchup, remove it from flame.
- Serve your sweet and sour tamarind chutney at room temperature with Kachori, Samosa or any snacks of your choice.
You can also use Jaggery instead of sugar.
