You might eaten many varieties of rice and pulao. Today, I am sharing traditional South Indian Tomato Pulao recipe (टमाटर पुलाव रेसिपी) in this post.
Tomato pulao recipe has two main variations in India, i.e. South Indian tomato pulao recipe and Maharashtrian tomato pulao recipe (mainly eaten in Mumbai). Further, in South India, it has two variations. One is spicy tomato pulao recipe and the other is less spicy tomato pulao recipe. I’m sharing here the second recipe.
It is very easy and quick recipe which makes it suitable for packing in tiffin.
Ingredients
- 100 gm Rice
- 200 gm Tomato (chopped)
- 50 gm Peanuts
- 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
- 1 Green Chili (chopped)
- 1 tbsp Coriander Leaves (chopped)
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1 tsp Garam Masala
- 1 tbsp Oil
- As per taste Salt
- 300 ml Water

Tomato Pulao Recipe : Step by Step Instructions
- First of all wash the rice and soak for 10 minutes.
- Heat oil in a karahi and crackle mustard seeds in it. Also add peanuts in it.
- Add all the ingredients except rice and cook for 5 minutes.
- After 5 minutes add rice and water and mix it properly.
- Let it boil once and then cover the lid. Cook it on low flame till the rice absorbs entire water.
- Easy and delicious tomato pulao get ready. You can serve it with raita, plain curd, papad and pickle.
