Polar bear is the wonder of Mother Nature and an excellent swimmer of Arctic Circle weighs between 350 and 700 kg, swims 300 km and lives on ice!
Polar bear, also known as “maritime bear” and “white bear” is the sister species of brown bear, with many adaptations for live in snow, open water and cold temperature. Polar bears are the excellent swimmers of Arctic Circle. Many times, the individual polar bears have been seen in open Arctic waters as far as 300 km (200 mi) from land.
An adult polar bear normally weighs between 350 and 700 kg. They hunt for seals on the edges of sea-ice. Mother nature give them some superb gift to survive on ice. The blubber, hide and the fur are those wonderful gifts of Mother nature to polar bears which keep them insulated. Polar bears become overheat at temperatures above 10 °C (50 °F), and are nearly invisible under infrared photography.
Well developed sense of smell is the another gift of Mother Nature to polar bears. They can detect seals nearly 1.6 km (1 mi) away and buried under 1 m (3 ft) of snow.
Unfortunately, Indigenous people hunt the polar bears – the awesome creation of Mother Nature, for their wonderful furs, meat, lighting homes from the fat of polar bears, and for making medicines by drying and powdering their heart.
